One of my favourite settings

* *

Well, it seems the story that I had planned to post today is somewhere in the big black hole of Internet space. I have had a week of computer issues.......hmmmm......very frustrating. Anyway, after four hours on the telephone with many different companies I have upgraded my Internet speed and apparently we are meant to be receiving very, very fast Internet speed now. .....Not!!! and for the last hour my computer is behaving like an old snail. So I have decided to post one of my old & favourite afternoon tea parties that I had under the apple tree in my garden and since this morning is so cold here in Australia, it's a nice way to reminisce about summer.

Two summers ago in my garden......

I was inspired last week by a lovely lady in Bowral, the country town where I live to set up this afternoon tea setting under my old apple tree in my garden. (which is currently being enjoyed by these little birds who are feasting on the last of my apples). Late last week one of my husbands client's baked some amazing scones and gave them to Andrew to bring home.

The story goes: Andrew visited his client to pick up some furniture to be restored, apparently he eyed a cake in her house, (my poor husband doesn't get much cake at our home) and the very next minute she had wrapped up the cake, a container of beautiful freshly picked raspberries and a bowl of whipped cream and gave all to Andrew to bring home. This cake is featured here on the black cake stand, we ate all the raspberries.

Anyway, I contacted her to say thank you and the very next day Andrew came home with another huge plate of beautiful home baked scones. I just had to do a quick photo shoot before they were eaten up by my family. Thank you to our lovely client, not only did your cake and scones look amazing they were also delicious and enjoyed by all.

My love of everything black and white flows through my home, my sofa is upholstered in black and white toile with black and white gingham cushions. (I borrowed a few from my sofa to throw on the cane chairs) I found these lovely butterfly place mats at David Jones (a department store in Australia) a few years ago, they really are very pretty.

I just love silver with black and white, this little dish was a gift, look at the little pumpkin handle on the lid, a perfect little dish for the whipped cream. Also one of my favourite teapots, passed down through Andrew's family, we were quite lucky to receive it and it always sits so proudly both indoors and out.

Old linen, some bone handled cutlery and delicate white tea cups.

is celebrating her 98th Tablescape Thursday party today and they are mostly warm summery settings which is very nice for all we Aussies who are freezing here today.

Thank you to all who leave comments for me, I just love receiving them and I do treasure them all. My weeks are travelling so very fast at the moment and I just don't ever seem to have the time to write back to you all. Please forgive me....

Wishing you a wonderful and happy day and if you have the time, come over to my Styling Gardens blog and see some of our winter countryside here in the Southern Highlands.
