I thought it would be fun to kick off this week with a colourful post.
Many years ago I created this lunch event for a client who simply just wanted to have fun with his friends at a race meeting in the country.
So colour it was, paint, and lots of it, bright stripes and colourful hand made props.
My Inspiration - The Sea
My budget was relatively small, so I spent most of the money on paint, fabric and colourful trimmings. I painted everything, sewed all the decorations of little brightly coloured sails and napkins which were originally huge sized tea towels that I cut in half. I also painted a 50 metre long backdrop of swirly blue lines, not very straight, but it was definitely fun to do!
My inspiration also came from my children (who were very little at that time) as I loved walking into their classrooms at the end of the day to see all the new brightly coloured paintings hanging around the walls. Have a look next time, if you get the chance. I love the way little children see shapes and the way they mix their colours. I decided to give my fish a childlike feel, plus it was much quicker to paint that way than trying to do everything perfectly, and the final effect, well it definitely worked as a whole.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Have a great week everyone.
